The warmest months of the year go by too quickly, and the Summerlin region has so much happening in the summer. Summerlin is a beehive of activity from June onward, offering everything from exercise classes and minor league baseball games to fan fests, concerts, and more.

We want to make it easy for you and your family to enjoy the best of what our area has to offer. Our team has compiled a list of some of our favorite Summerlin activities for you to enjoy. Take Me Out to the Ballpark

Minor League Baseball

Summerlin is where it’s at for minor-league baseball in our region. The  Las Vegas Aviators — the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics — play in the Las Vegas Ballpark in Summerlin, where you will get the chance to see tomorrow’s stars today. The ballpark provides a splendid view of the desert, with the Las Vegas skyline in the distance about 25 miles away.

Las Vegas Aviators baseball is a memorable experience as well as an athletic event, with on-the-field entertainment and delicious food from vendors such as Shake Shack and others. But, of course, hot dogs and beer always taste better at the ballpark. Between July 1 and Sept. 1, the Aviators will play in Summerlin 24 times, so there are plenty of opportunities to catch a game.

Latin Night

Experience the best of Latin America’s influence on Nevada by coming out for Latin Night at El Dorado Cantina in Tivoli Village. Enjoy great Mexican food and cocktails, and work up a sweat on the dance floor with energetic salsa dancing. Latin Night at El Dorado Cantina runs every Thursday night, and reservations are suggested.

The Sommelier Series Wine Tasting at JING

The best way to learn about wine is to gain experience from an expert sommelier. Wine drinkers in Summerlin will have an extraordinary opportunity to participate in the Sommelier Series Wine Tasting at Jing restaurant. Join well-known sommelier Matthew-Lorèn as he makes regular appearances at restaurants throughout Las Vegas. He will take you on a journey through a series of rotating wine-dinner themes such as “A Taste of Burgundy,” “A Tour of Italy,” “California Classics,” and “Old World vs. New World.”

The wines are paired with specific dishes prepared by celebrity chefs. Matthew-Lorèn provides table-side presentations analyzing the wines against the backdrop of the country where they came from.

  • Where: JING Las Vegas 10975 Oval Park Drive, Las Vegas.
  • When: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. July 18 (check the website for more dates after July).

Sloth Runner’s Club Run 5K/10K/Half Marathon

Everyone is a winner at the Sloth Runner’s Club. Rather than a race, though, this is a group run, where the goal is to enjoy each other’s company and the gorgeous scenery in the Summerlin area, with an emphasis on everyone getting back safely.

However, you’ll want to register quickly. The Sloth Runner’s Club deliberately keeps this event small to focus on the community atmosphere and remove the pressure of feeling like you can’t keep up. All paces and abilities are welcome. Runners will go off in waves capped at about 15 participants each. The entry fee gets you a lightweight, moisture-wicking technical shirt.

Battle 4 Vegas Fan Fest

Major league sports are a relatively new phenomenon for southern Nevada, and they have helped highlight the passions of fans in our region. The Battle 4 Vegas Fan Fest celebrates what it means to be part of a vibrant sports community. Bring the whole family along for two days of fun activities, including appearances by team mascots and local sports stars, photo opportunities with trophies, and autograph signings.

It’s not just for fans of the Golden Knights or the Raiders. You can engage with exhibits featuring the Formula 1 Heineken Silver Las Vegas Grand Prix, the Las Vegas Super Bowl Host Committee, and Topgolf. Take some time to shop at the vendor tents and enjoy refreshments.

The Battle 4 Vegas Fan Fest raises money for charity. This year’s beneficiaries are Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada and the Public Education Foundation. Since the event started in 2019, it has raised more than $550,000 for local agencies. Attendance is free, though food and participation in other events will incur a fee.

Fitness on the Lawn

Find your zen this summer in Summerlin. Every Tuesday from April to September, come to the Lawn at Downtown Summerlin to participate in various group exercise classes. Participate on a rotating basis in yoga, fitness, and high-intensity interval training, known as HIIT, run by TruFusion Summerlin, Pure Barre, and Lululemon. You can try out everything from pilates to kickboxing.

All sessions are free and for all levels of experience. All you have to do is bring an exercise mat, a towel, and water to hydrate. The big payoff is getting your sweat on facing the Red Rock Canyon as the sun sets behind the mountains.

Las Vegas Farmers Market

Another event that recurs throughout the summer is the Las Vegas Farmers Market. Every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., join neighbors and friends at The Pavilion at Downtown Summerlin to stock up on freshly grown fruits and vegetables from farms across the southwest United States. Selection will vary depending on the time of the year, but items such as avocados, squash, pomelos, strawberries, and more are popular.

But that’s not all. While fruits and vegetables are the main events, you can also find authentic hand-crafted European-style bread and cakes, as well as local fresh bread and pastries, nuts, pasta, fresh-cut flowers, and more.
