Explore the River Mountains Loop Trail
Explore the 34 miles of River Mountains Loop Trail in Henderson’s Mojave Desert. This trail links several locations, such as Henderson, Boulder City, the Hoover Dam, and Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Visitors and locals alike can run or walk this trail to take in the beautiful scenery, with mountains in the landscape and wildlife roaming around.
Use these three trailheads to view the area safely:
- Equestrian Park Trailhead at the intersection of 1699 Equestrian Drive and Foothill Drive.
- Mountain Lake Park Trailhead at 1020 Golda Way.
- Silverman Connector Access Point at the intersection of Old Vegas Trail, Foothills Drive, and East Paradise Hills Drive.
Some trailheads don’t have specific addresses, so consider checking the River Mountains Loop Trail website for map coordinates to help simplify your visit.
You can go horseback riding if you’re interested in doing more than running or walking on the trail. However, check the map before riding since only specific segments on secondary trails permit horses. Otherwise, you will see pavement or concrete sections with a 12-foot width for hikers and cyclers. These stunning trails will surely leave you with wonderful memories, whether you go on a solo trek or your loved ones accompany you on the journey.
- Hours: Daily from sunrise to sunset.
- Location: 1699 Equestrian Drive, Henderson, and 1020 Golda Way, Henderson.
Visit “The Simpsons” House
Visit “The Simpsons” House in Henderson. Originally, this life-size replication of the popular cartoon television show was built in 1997 as a promotional giveaway. The home builders watched over 100 episodes of this program to help them get every precise detail of the home just right, so it feels like you’re standing outside Homer and Marge’s home in Springfield. Back in the day, the house was painted a vibrant pink color with an identical interior, too, but it’s all been remodeled since, however, the remaining structure still resembles the cartoon home just with a more neutral siding color.
It’s important to be mindful of the private residents and neighbors of this area. So, if you’re going to visit it, make sure you view from the street, come at a reasonable hour, and be conscious of your noise levels. To help you know you’re in the right place, look for the Homer Simpson image on the sidewalk concrete in front of the home. This makes for a great stop for super fans of the show or a quick activity to do when you have some downtime.
- Location: 712 Red Bark Lane, Henderson.
Lion Habitat Ranch
Lion Habitat Ranch has been operating since 1989, and the professional lion staff members are constantly improving the lion’s living quarters and surrounding environment. This location works to protect lions and ensure they live a comfortable life. While you can enjoy looking at the lions and learning about them during your visit at any time of the year, check the ranch’s calendar for any fun events you can attend, especially around holidays. And for those who can’t make it to the ranch, schedule a virtual tour for a unique perspective of the zoo.
Here are some experiences you can have here:

- Feed the Animals, which allows you and your party the thrilling experience of feeding giraffes or lions.

If you plan to visit and it rains, the ranch is subject to closing, and it may remain closed for several days after the storm to clean and clear the pathways.
